Job Description

Location: San Juan, PR

Summary:
Responsible for supporting affiliate adherence to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for performing the day- to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas. The position supports the month end closing activities, payroll, treasury, and tax compliance related activities. Prepare or assist in the preparation as the case may be of Federal and Puerto Rico Corporation Income Tax Returns, Corporation Property Tax Returns, Municipal Volume of Business Declarations, Corporation Annual Reports, Monthly Excise Tax Returns, Sales and Use Tax Returns, and other government compliance required filings. Ensure that company Puerto Rico Operations comply with periodic tax payments, information reporting, and other tax authority requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain controls to assurance appropriate integrity and reasonableness of financial data as well as compliance with corporate, division financial policies and procedures, and understanding of GAAP.
  • Perform Balance Sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
  • Ensure monthly/quarterly/yearly results are prepared timely and accurately.
  • Assistance to the general accounting group in the compilation and integrity of financial data including in the documentation of financials, provides consultative advice on highly complex accounting matters in areas including internal audit, general accounting, taxation, or a combination of the aforementioned.
  • Assist in the Tax Compliance Work for all company Puerto Rico Entities: Prepare Corporation Income Tax Returns, Volume of Business Declarations, Corporation Annual Reports, Corporation Property Tax Returns, Excise Tax Returns, Sales and Use Tax Returns, Estimated Tax Payments, and other government required filings.
  • Ensure that tax compliance returns, and the related payments are filed with tax authorities within the established deadlines.
  • Calculate Income Tax Provisions and Deferred Taxes for company Puerto Rico Entities.
  • Interact with external and internal auditors, support in the information gathering and analysis.
  • Provide financial information and fully support achievement of financial plans, goals and objectives and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Operate with limited supervision on projects with significant interface across functions and groups, meet deadlines and balance workload requirements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with Major in Accounting.
  • CPA, CMA, and or MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • At least 2 – 3 years of experience in General/Public Accounting and total combined minimum 6 years of experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and independent judgement.
  • Effective problem solving and decision making.
  • Team player with strong initiative and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work under pressure meeting tight deadlines.
  • Good organizational, and time management skills.
  • Professional attitude and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
