Title: Safety Specialist
Duration: 11 months
Location: Westborough MA 01581
Shift: M-F 9am-5pm
Job Summary:
Safety Specialist with a focus on Dangerous Goods (DG) compliance to support our safety and logistics operations. This role will play a critical part in developing a dangerous goods document repository, reviewing agile entries to verify DG requirements, processing daily outbound transportation requests, and supporting training development and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation & Auditing
- Develop and maintain an internal dangerous goods document repository
- Review agile entries manually to ensure DG requirements are met
- Identify and report compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through weekly/monthly audits
- Compliance & Communication
- Work with suppliers and 3rd-party logistics vendors to gather compliance documentation and ensure DG classification, labeling, and documentation requirements are fulfilled
- Maintain accurate records to comply with both internal and external regulations ( governing bodies)
- Training & Support
- Assist in developing and delivering training related to DG handling and compliance
- Train and assist Area Managers, team members, and other stakeholders on DG responsibilities and best practices
- Operational Tasks
- Respond to daily outbound transportation requests/approvals
- Perform observations and audits to ensure continued compliance
- Participate in process improvement activities and drive actions to completion
- May support emergency response, hazardous waste management, or related EHS activities depending on site needs
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Environmental, Safety, Hazmat, etc.)
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or a related field
- Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Health, Safety, or related discipline
- Strong skills in communication, teamwork, analysis, and judgment
- Experience with data analysis, reviewing DG requests, and delivering EHS training
- Background in manufacturing or hazardous materials regulations (e.g., DOT, RCRA, Hazmat)
