Job Description

Job Summary

This individual contributor is responsible for guiding and influencing the development of a formal Global Quality Services Framework and for supporting the development of software quality assurance test strategies. This position is responsible for performance and capacity requirements definition and complex programming duties. Additionally, this role involves monitoring, validating, and planning performance and capacity, as well as programming Load testing scripts.

  • Identify, define, and mitigate complex issues, dependencies, and risks related to Performance testing.

  • Determine testing scope and approach, and collaborate with cross-functional IT and business stakeholders to review and approve the overall testing approach.

  • Ensure test plans and timelines are aligned with project/program milestones.

  • Lead and assist in the development of quality assurance (QA) test project strategies, methodologies, and standard processes for moderately to highly complex IT initiatives across multiple QA domains.

  • Analyze business and technology requirements to ensure testability and traceability.

  • Review and validate testable business processes, test data, and test environment requirements.

  • Define and ensure adherence with entry and exit criteria according to Performance testing goals & standards.

  • Manage the development of test scenarios/scripts and execution of test cases for UI and API workflows.

  • Generate scheduled reports (e.g., test execution, defects, ad hoc reports) and provide daily test execution metrics to IT teams and management, as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and test leads to gain buy-in and approval of test plans, and track quality metrics for Performance testing.

  • Acquire additional training, guidance, mentoring on assessments, architectural reviews, tuning & recommendations from test leads as needed.

  • Cross-train fellow Performance test engineers in shared features, dependencies, and provide input as required to collaborate and meet deliverables.

  • Ensure quality metrics are tracked across testing phases of Performance.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in SQA, software testing, or a related field. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. In lieu of a degree, 3 years of equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement for a total of 8 years.
  • Minimum 2 years experience measuring system performance in a corporate environment.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in software or systems programming and/or scripting.
  • Minimum 1 year in an informal leadership role working with technical teams.
  • 2 years experience working with JMeter/LoadRunner scripting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years experience in capacity planning and management.
  • 2 years experience working with Performance testing.
  • 1 year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with leadership (e.g., Manager level and above).
  • 3 years experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 3 years experience working on projects involving the implementation of software development life cycle(s) (SDLC).
  • 2 years experience writing technical documentation in a software testing or quality assurance environment.
  • 2 years experience working with integration technologies (e.g., web services, MQ).
  • 2 years experience working with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.
  • 2 years experience working in healthcare testing environments.
  • 2 years experience testing business systems applications.
  • 2 years experience working with data mart/data warehousing.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field.
  • Quality Assurance Institute (QAI) or American Society for Quality (ASQ) or similar certification.
