Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse Duration: 06+ months (Potential Extension) Location: Round Lake, IL, 60073 Shift: Second or Third Shift
Job Description: Provides nursing services and first aid to employees who become ill or injured on the premises of the establishment. Establishes preventive health programs and procedures to promote good health and well-being practices among employees. Assures that Company complies with all internal and external standards and regulations (i.e. Worker’s Compensation, Law 139, FMLA, etc.).
Responsibilities: •Develops and implement preventive health programs and procedures such as: health education, accident prevention, alcohol abuse counseling, smoking cessation and weight control programs. •Administrates Company health related programs (“Be well @ company”, Law 139, Worker Compensation, Maternity Program and Reasonable Accommodations per ADA). •Administrates Medical Healthcare Plan including general orientation, changes in coverage, follow up for reimbursement from the provider. •Active liaison with Management and/or EHS&S Team members to minimize impact of facility operations related to occupational injury or illness related events. •Takes patient's vital signs, treats wounds, and evaluates physical condition of patient. •Contacts Occupational and Family Doctors and hospital to arrange for further medical treatment as needed. •Maintains medical record of treated employees and prepares accident reports and insurance forms. Keeps and files employee’s medical records on a daily basis. •Assists Occupational and Family Doctors in employee medical examinations and work-related conditions. •Prepare monthly statistical summaries. •Ensures health and safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), GDP’s and Company policies and procedures are followed. •Refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program as required. •Should be able to work with minimum supervision. •Must keep the work area in clean and orderly conditions. •Teamwork, leadership and services oriented. •Direct Patient Care R.N. or LPN specialized in providing a safe work environment for employees. May be a nurse practitioner, manager, educator, consultant and/or case manager. Will often work with members of an occupational health and safety functional team.
Requirements: Bachelor Degree of Sciences in Nursing with 6+ months of previous experience in position. Maintain Continued Education for State License; knowledge in Ergonomics, OSHA, Workmen’s Compensation, Law 139, ADA regulations; computer literate, with excellent communication skills and service oriented.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, percent, to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Nursing State License, Occupational Health Nurse Certification, Regulatory Laws Training, Audiometric Certifications, First Aid and CPR Certification, and other training certifications that the immediate supervisor refers.
Company Regulatory Compliance Observes and promotes company occupational health and safety, security, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), standard operating procedures and other measures already established by the company; must inform of any violation.
