Color Vision Screening
Responsibilities are interchangeable among job titles such as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). The specific work environment/department will be outlined in the assignment requirements.
Determine specimen acceptability according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures per departmental SOPs
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Maintain adequate bench supplies and assist with specimen processing as needed
Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to PPE requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
0–2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience required
State Medical Technologist license (if required by assignment)
ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required (as specified in assignment)
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Proficiency with computers; laboratory information systems experience preferred
Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
Must pass standardized color vision screening
Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs
